Effect of lockdown on Atmosphere in India:
Is lockdown helping in controling pollution, OR NOT?
As India
continues to be under a 21-day lockdown with many of us confined to our houses
one of the things that nobody is missed and you certainly haven't missed it is
the vastly improved air quality pollution levels are visibly down
Not just in India's national capital
but everywhere in the country. would you believe it 103 cities and towns in the
country have actually reported vastly improved air quality, the reasons are of
course not very difficult to understand.
There are
almost no vehicles on the road, there are no factories running at this time, so
pollution levels are much much lower than they were before and remember this
comes just a few short weeks after the horribly polluted levels that we saw
especially in the national capital but in several other parts of North India as
well.
Now environmentalists say this
isn't really the best way to bring pollution down and improve air quality but
they do very importantly show that this kind of thing is actually possible it
is possible to clean the air up in just a very short period of time.
Delhi is infamous as India's pollution capital
and happens to be one of the most polluted cities in the world but things have
dramatically changed since the lockdown actually began and you can actually see
it when you open your windows until very recently remember the air quality
index which is a measure of what the air quality is like had things like poor
very poor hazardous and scary words like that if you look at the same levels
right now

The AQI says
things like good to even satisfactory which is an amazing improvement in such a
short time in Mumbai which also saw big bouts of pollution until just a few
weeks ago where a KQI levels but as much as 153 well things have improved
dramatically.
There as well the AQI levels in
Mumbai during the lockdown have been measured at between 80 and 90 nitrogen
dioxide and other key pollutants have seen vastly reduced levels as well during
the lockdown from 52 per cubic metre to as low as 15 in fact there's been a 71
percent in many different pollutants in major cities like Mumbai Bengaluru
Kolkata and Chennai during this period and while the cleaner air is definitely
very welcome silver lining to all Indians because after all we've been waiting
to breathe some cleaner air this is not just an India story it's actually
happening in different parts of the world many many cities are reporting much
better air quality and much better environment level state intially for
instance it's not just India but there were pictures it Italy that have gone
viral in and around
while pigeons have taken over Rajeev chalk right here in Delhi, Juhu beach hasn't been this clean in decades.

Effect of lockdown on Atmosphere in Italy and other Countries:
In Italy in Venice the murky canals
are getting cleaner which happens to be one of the most beautiful and biggest
tourist destinations the canals a pair of fish have returned waters below
Italy's efforts to limit the coronavirus meant an absence of boat traffic on
the city's famous waterways and the changes happen quickly and things are
looking much cleaner with no people around because the sediment in those canals
of actually settle allowing the water to become much much clearer and the fish
are finally much more visible than they've ever been before,
Similar kinds of environmental
activities and improvements will be seen in many different parts of the world
as the world comes to terms with the coronavirus shutdown the world over it's
important to note that while we celebrate lower pollution levels and these
sudden changes in the environment it's also a huge reminder of just how fragile
the world really is so while you may be tempted to go out and enjoy this new
hair please remember to take all precautions stay home and stay safe
It's nature
now moving back into spaces left empty by the deadly coronavirus what began
with gradual emptying of public spaces empty streets empty tourist spots empty
roads is now slowly seeing nature occupying that spain Meanwhile peacocks
roam the streets of lockdown Madrid in Spain
Countries that have been under
stringent lockdown to stop the spread of the corona virus have experienced an
unintended benefit Lucian labs have shown a drastic dip satellite images reveal
a marked fall in global nitrogen dioxide levels in one year drastic fall in the deadly
nitrogen dioxide levels once.
Italy was forced to take the lock down
seriously now it quickly registered a fall in no.2 levels or even South
Korea right now a month ago to February 19th what you see right there this
maroon band encapsulating enveloping all of North India our PM 2.5 levels,
which is the deadliest component in the air especially for their air pollution
is concerned, this is over 200 level of pollution right there and if we check March let us look at 23rd of March, PM 2.5 is
a component of vehicular traffic industrial emissions all other kind of
pollutions which adds to heavy air pollution, is this a possible impact or an
effect of a lockdown that we are witnessing lesser and lesser?
People now taking out their vehicles and we
are going into curfew mode will we see this shrink further in the next week to
come, well possibly it should because ultimately if you stay in you stay alive
